The flat land between what is now Stoke and Richmond was full of resources, including harakeke (flax) and seasonal fishing, such as eels, from streams and the Waimea estuary.
HistorySaxton Field is a major regional sporting complex developed and managed by Nelson City and Tasman District Councils over a number of years.
Two Councillors from each Council form the Committee:
Over the last couple of years, both Councils have undertaken new developments at the complex and there are a range of other projects currently underway or in their planning phase.
Saxton Field CommitteeThe Saxton Field Reserve Management Plan sets out the proposed vision, priorities and policies for Saxton Field for the next ten years.
Future DevelopmentSports House is the home of Sport Tasman and an administration hub for the local sport and recreation community. On the north side of Saxton Stadium at Saxton Field, Nelson, it hosts several sport, recreation, and community organisations, as well as Sport Tasman.
