The entry-level mountain biking trail is located at Saxton Field between the Velodrome and Wetland. The new Grade 2 trail (identified as P59) is perfect for beginners.

Nelson follows the national trend of moving away from organised sports and participation has increased in mountain biking. Mountain Biking in Nelson is ranked fourth for participation.

The Mountain Biking track is beside Nelson’s Saxton Velodrome and shares loads of parking.

The track includes memorial tree planting in memory of loved ones. Marsden House has donated plants & arranged an event for each year for the last 25 years. 

The Saxton Field track was shaped & resurfaced following the August 2022 rain event.
